Police arrest 7 pickpockets

JAKARTA: City police said on Monday they had arrested seven pickpockets operating on buses in the capital.

Four of the pickpockets are residents of Mampang Prapatan, South Jakarta, while the other three are residents of Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta.

The Mampang Prapatan group has three times robbed passengers of minibus 604 plying the Tanah Abang-Pasar Minggu route, while the Pasar Rebo group operated on bus 41 plying the Kota-Kampung Rambutan route.

"They were arrested along with evidence," said city police spokesman Sr. Comr. Tjiptono.

Tjiptono said the pickpockets claimed they sold the stolen items to merchants in Senen in Central Jakarta and merchants in Cawang, East Jakarta.--Antara
