Police arrest 13 suspects
JAKARTA (JP): City police have arrested 13 suspects for their alleged roles in a robbery on Jl. Kelapa Dua Raya, West Jakarta, on Aug. 11, a police officer disclosed on Wednesday.
Ten of them are believed to be the robbers, while the other three are suspected of acting as fences for the stolen goods, City Police Spokesman Lt. Col Bambang Permantoro said.
The ten have been identified only by their initials of Suk, Sus, Muh, Rus, Yan, Gun, Dan, Ir, Yul and Su. Police were forced to shoot Muh and Ir in the leg and hip respectively because they tried to resist arrest. The three alleged fences are identified as Sur, Jit and Lis.
The police are still looking for another suspect, identified as Sut, a resident of Ciracas, West Jakarta.
Bambang said the robbery took place on Aug. 11. The robbers made off with 18 kinds of machines, a necklace, a ring, a wristwatch and Rp 600,000 ($273) in cash. The owner of the shop reportedly suffered losses of about Rp 300 million (US$136,364).(29)
