PNG citizens arrested in Papua

JAYAPURA: Local police authorities are currently holding two Papua New Guinea (PNG) nationals for possession of marijuana and carrying sharp weapons at the city's Hamadi seaport.

Identified as Penias T. Youwe, 44, and Felix N. Treron, 30, the two men were caught with 270 grams of marijuana and two knives. They were arrested by the marine personnel on patrol at the seaport.

Jayapura police precinct chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Totok Kasmiarto said the two came from Aitape and entered the province for business purposes.

He said the police had notified the PNG consulate in Jayapura regarding the detention of its citizens.

In March, police arrested a man named Lazarus Homa, also a PNG citizen, who had 663 grams of marijuana. --JP
