PMII to hold annual congress

BOGOR: The Indonesian Islamic Students Movement (PMII) will hold its annual congress on Friday in Puncak, Bogor.

Congress participants are expected to discuss the government's fight against corruption and the possibility of moving the nation's capital to Kalimantan island.

"Jakarta is already too crowded ... Moreover, it is too close to a fault line. We could learn from Malaysia, which moved its administrative capital from Kuala Lumpur, which is the now business center, to Putra Jaya," the congress chairman Rahmat Imron Hidayat said on Wednesday.

He said at least 1,000 of the organization's executives from across the country would attend the congress. -- JP
