PLN turns off supply in Kapuk

JAKARTA: State electricity company PLN has shut down its power generators that supply energy to the Kapuk area since Wednesday due to intense flooding.

The spokesman for the PLN Business Distribution that oversees Jakarta and Tangerang unit, Riyo Supriyanto, was quoted by Antara as saying that the move was meant to minimize the chance that anyone could be electrocuted in that area.

He added that the affected areas included the Kapuk Utara II industrial center, Kapuk Raya, Kapuk Cendana, Kapuk Poglar, Kapuk Pos Polisi, and Kapuk Sawah and the surrounding areas.

He promised to restore the electricity supply as soon as possible. Riyo also promised to increase the level of distribution in areas prone to flooding. -- JP
