PLN rotates power outage
MANADO, North Sulawesi: The state electricity company PT PLN has begun to rotate power outage in Manado, Bitun and Minahasa regencies, Antara reported.
PLN's North and Central Sulawesi branch office said the water level of Tondono Reservoir, which is used by Tanggari Turbine Power Plant, was very low because of a lack of rain.
The plant can only generate 54.38 megawatts of power, well below its full capacity of 73 MW, North Sulawesi administration spokesman David Bobihoe Akib said Tuesday.
The accumulation of plastic garbage along streams leading to Tondono has also affected the plant's operation, David said.
The Tanggari plant serves 193,374 clients, mostly in Manado, Bitun and Minahasa. (emb)
