Plastic bags, cans fished out Cisadane

BOGOR: Green volunteer group Eagle managed to collect some 40 bags of garbage from Cisadane River, mostly plastic bags and drink cans.

"We try to carry out such activities as often as we can," Eagle chairman Yoseph Supardi said on Saturday.

Later in the day, the volunteers, along with the staff of Bodogol resort in Cijeruk district, students and employees of health drink producer PT Yakult planted hundreds of trees along the riverbank.

Bodogol resort manager San Andre Jatmiko said that sponsorship was needed to keep the area clean.

"We have asked the Bogor administration to help us, but the officials just denied our request," he said. --JP
