PKB warns members to remain loyal

SURABAYA, East Java: An executive of the local chapter of the National Awakening Party (PKB) has warned that it would throw out any PKB members involved in campaigning for the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P).

PKB East Java deputy chairman Fathurrosjid said on Wednesday that four East Java councillors of the PKB faction were included in the PDI-P campaign team for incumbent President Megawati Soekarnoputri and Nahdlatul Ulama leader Hasyim Muzadi.

He said the local chapter, which did not endorse Megawati and Hasyim, would ask the four councillors to resign from the PDI-P's campaign team, and if they refused, they would be stripped of their PKB membership. -- JP
