PITI to celebrate Chinese New Year

YOGYAKARTA: In order to enhance assimilation among different ethnic groups in Yogyakarta, the Chinese-Indonesian Muslim Brotherhood Association's (PITI) Yogyakarta chapter will hold a Chinese New Year celebration at a university mosque here.

Budi Satya Graha, the founder of PITI's Yogyakarta branch, said that the celebration will be held a week after the Chinese New Year, which falls on Feb. 9.

He said that the Chinese-Indonesian community and the public in general, regardless of their religious affiliation, would be invited to attend the ceremony, which is titled: Imlek: Chinese Tradition or Religious Ritual?" -- JP
