Pistol found near airport

TANGERANG (JP): Head of the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport Police subprecinct Capt. Titik Valentina found a revolver dumped by two unidentified man riding a motorcycle in a street near the airport on Saturday night.

The policewoman said she was driving to the airport with her deputy when she saw a black plastic bag dropped from a motorcycle in front of their vehicle.

The officers pulled over to examine the bag's contents and were surprised to find a Smith & Wesson .36 revolver.

"The pistol is police standard issue but was not equipped with bullets," she said.

The officers were unable to pursue the motorcycle as the men had long disappeared from view.

Tangerang Police chief Lt. Col. Pudji Hartanto, said his office had not identified the owner of the gun.

"We are still investigating the case," Pudji said. (41/jun)
