Pilot's body recovered

BANDA ACEH, Aceh: Search and Rescue workers found Wednesday the body of the pilot of a light plane that crashed into a swamp in Pucuk Lembang-Kandang in southern Aceh on Tuesday, a press report said yesterday.

The body of R. Hutapea, 60, was pulled from the cockpit of the Sabang Merauke Air Charter's Cassa 212 plane, which nose-dived into a two-meter deep swamp in thick jungle, Antara reported.

The news agency reported Tuesday that the only person killed in the accident was the co-pilot.

The plane, carrying 14 people, was on its way from the Polonia airport in Medan to Simeule Island and Meulaboh in western Aceh when the accident occurred.

The other 13 people aboard reportedly survived the accident that happened at about 8 a.m. near the Leuser National Park on Tuesday. (pan)
