Photographers' credit

From Kompas

Every time we celebrate the proclamation of Indonesian independence we forget a matter of great importance. What I would like to point out is the name of the photographer who took the pictures of the historical events during which the proclamation was read and the red and white national flag raised.

It is really ironic that the name of the photographer of such monumental events has not been mentioned for so many years. So, I would like to appeal to all mass media in the country to mention Frans Mendoer every time his works are published, or at least mention his press photo agency, Ipphos (Indonesian Press Photo Service), which he managed. Now the office is to be demolished to make way for commercial estates.

As far as photographers are concerned, they deserve to receive the credits for the photos they haven taken. Very little attention has been paid to these nationalists in the annals of our national history.
