POLICE AWARDS: City Police Chief Maj. Gen. Mochamad Hindarto
(left) presents awards to (from right to left) a Metromini
driver, a security guard, an unidentified civilian and a police
officer. The three civilians received their awards for helping
the police foil robberies, while the officer got his award for
capturing the assailants of Army Brig. Gen. TMF Tampubolon early
this month. The awards were presented yesterday during a ceremony
at the City Police Headquarters.

STREET PAINTERS: Around 500 painters from Jakarta, Bandung,
Yogyakarta, Solo and Surabaya take part in the street painters
competition organized by Humpuss Group, a widely diversified
business group owned by Hutomo Mandala Putra. The competition was
held yesterday in Senayan, Central Jakarta, in connection with
the celebration of the Group's 10th anniversary.

C: Marriage

MARRIAGE PROCESSION: A bride in a bright-red wedding dress,
accompanied by relatives and members of a local traditional music
group, marches through the narrow, winding alleys of Panggang
Island, a tiny, crowded islet in the Seribu Islands. They were
announcing her evening wedding party to the community recently.
Islanders traditionally hold their wedding parties at the end of
harvest time, before the western monsoons begin.
