Phone services disrupted

JAKARTA (JP): The South Jakarta office of state telecommunication company PT Telkom announced on Thursday that one of the primary cables on Jl. Ciledug Raya had been stolen, thereby disrupting services in the nearby areas.

M. Natsir, head of the customers network section, said that the service disturbance affected the customers living in the southern part of Jl. Ciledug Raya in Cipulir subdistrict, Seskoal and Shangrila I and II, Larangan Indah and Pesanggrahan Permai housing complexes.

"The cable, which was stolen on Nov. 19, has a capacity of 800 telephone line units," Natsir said in a statement.

Therefore telephones with initial numbers of 270-xxxx, 720- xxxx to 727-xxxx, 739-xxxx, and 7279-xxxx are temporarily out of order, he said, adding that repair work would be completed at least within seven days. (emf)
