Philippines Embassy clarifies

This has reference to the article, "Maid tries to kill her newborn baby", which appeared in your newspaper's June 6, 2001 issue. In addition to the information given by the Philippine Embassy that we had never employed a housemaid named Ms. Ida, the Indonesian woman who tried to kill her baby, please be informed that, as we have verified, none of our embassy staff had employed the same person as their personal housemaid.

We wish to emphasize that neither the embassy nor any of our staff had anything to do with the circumstances that led Ms. Ida to attempt to kill her baby.
