PHI makes legal information available at your fingertips
Anywhere in the world, doing business also means dealing with the local laws, rules, regulations, decrees and directives. For example, you would have to be familiar with existing laws and regulations on taxes, the environment, insurance, land, capital market and banking.
Like any other legitimate business owner, the last thing you want to hear is that your company has inadvertently violated a regulation.
Where do you go for the right information? Who should you ask? Wouldn't it be better if all the information you might need were always available at your fingertips?
Databases
PHI has the answer to these questions. Since its establishment in 1995, Legal Research Indonesia (Penelitian Hukum Indonesia, or PHI) has been supporting local and foreign companies, as well as individuals, by providing them with a complete range of legal databases. Better still, PHI has made these databases available on CD-ROMs that you can use on your stand-alone as well as networked computers.
Do you need to learn about the Indonesian regulation on the value added tax? Do you want to find out more about the government requirements on environmental impact analysis?
What is the procedure for applying for a business license?
Just insert the appropriate CD-ROM into the drive, and you will have instant access to all the information that you need.
Now you can have the answer to your queries any time, anywhere-even as you work on your notebook computer.
Expatriates can buy the English version of the original Indonesian databases.
PHI also has the original Civil Code, which was written in the Dutch language. The company also has its Indonesian and English translation. Furthermore, it also has a database containing all the materials in the published State Gazette going back to 1950. This database also includes all the presidential documents from 1990, which are not part of the published version of State Gazette. All PHI's databases are updated regularly, so that you can be sure you will not be consulting an obsolete material.
To serve a broader clientele, PHI recently released its latest database on the banking laws and regulations in Indonesia.
This comprehensive collection contains more than 3000 regulations issued since 1957, including central government regulations, departmental regulations, directorate regulations, Bank Indonesia's regulations as well as all the regulations issued by other agencies.
Fast access
Fast and easy access is a primary concern of any database user, and therefore PHI uses the latest computer technology that will give you the ability to quickly locate and retrieve any information stored on each CD-ROM.
Other features include:
1. Comprehensive tables of contents and hypertext links to help you move through the information efficiently.
2. The facility to search information using keywords.
3. A full range of research tools such as sticky notes and bookmarks.
4. The ability to track your research project for future reference or billing purposes.
5. The option of accessing the CD-ROM through a Local Area Network.
To complement its unique offerings, PHI also offers additional supports and services such as on-site training to maximize your research effectiveness and efficiency. If you wish, PHI can also assist you in developing your own legal databases.
Throughout all the five years after its establishment, PHI has been providing a complete range of legal information to a growing list of highly satisfied clients.
The unparalleled quality of its products clearly demonstrates its commitment to its customers. By capitalizing on its expertise and vast research experience in this area, the company always ensures that the clients will have the latest and the most up-to- date legal information.
It is what PHI's company mission is all about, namely, to achieve business success by helping its clients succeed-in a lawful way. (Zatni Arbi)
