Pertamina clarifies

We would like to respond to, as well as clarify, some information from an article titled Hazardous waste poses headache for Pertamina that appeared in The Jakarta Post on May 17.

PT Prasadha Pamunah Limbah Industri (PPLi) and Pertamina have recently developed a very positive dialog to solve some of the urgent waste disposal issues at Pertamina. PPLi has offered Pertamina a very competitive solution that is in full compliance with Indonesian regulations and is ready to begin the work.

Benefiting from a new government, Pertamina has made real efforts to begin compliance and cleanup of the B3 waste material stockpile. Pertamina should be encouraged to continue improving their environmental management in a transparent manner.

Also, we need to clarify that the ownership of PPLi was altered in 2001 when Modern Asia Environmental Holding (MAEH), a waste service company for the ASEAN region, purchased PPLi's shares from WMI and Bimantara Citra. The Republic of Indonesia, through the Ministry of the Environment, also owns a minority share in the company with MAEH.

We hope the accurate and valuable information above can be used for your future reference.

President Director

Note: Thank you for your clarification.
