Pertamina awards development contracts

State oil and gas firm PT Pertamina has awarded two-year contracts to three construction and engineering firms to build production facilities at its gas fields in South Sumatra.

Pertamina spokesman Hanung Budya Yukyanta said the engineering procurement construction (EPC) contracts were awarded to PT Rekayasa Industri, PT Inti Karya Persada Tehnik and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd.

"The natural gas development project in South Sumatra is expected to supply 250 million cubic feet of gas per day (MMSCFD) to West Java, starting in mid-2006," Hanung said on Thursday in a presrelease.

The first contract involves a US$33.01 million construction project for a natural gas receiving facility in West Musi, and was awarded to PT Rekayasa Industri and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd.

The second contract, a $135.92 million construction project for a gas transmission pipeline linking West Musi and Pagar Dewa, was awarded to PT Inti Karya Persada Teknik.

The third, awarded to PT Inti Karya Persada Teknik, is a $69.81 million construction project for a receiving facility in Merbau and a transmission facility in Pagar Dewa.
