Persita beat Persikabo 1-0

JAKARTA (JP): Persita of Tangerang regency tamed Persikabo of Bogor regency 1-0 to top the western division standing in the 2001 Bank Mandiri soccer league at Benteng stadium in Tangerang.

Cameroon national Maboang Kessack escaped a scrimmage to kick the single goal for Persita in the 29th minute.

"We have difficulties in breaking through Persita's defense because the team have good players. It's hard for us to create a goal," Persikabo coach, Marvin, was quoted by Antara as saying.

Persita's coach Solihin said that he had instructed his players to resist Persikabo's attack.

"By covering the attacks in every line, Persikabo's players become powerless and Persita outshined," he said.

The match was advanced from Saturday to Friday due to Idul Adha which falls on Monday. (ivy)
