Persija to represent Indonesia in Brunei

JAKARTA (JP): Governor Sutiyoso expects soccer team Persija to perform its best as Indonesia's representative in the Brunei Invitational 2000 in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei.

"I don't expect too much from you. I just want you to give your best shot as Indonesia's representative," Sutiyoso told the squad on Friday. The squad consists of 18 players and seven coaches.

Six teams will take part in the invitational, which is being sponsored by Toyota. Persija is grouped with Malaysia's Pahang FC and host BAFA XI. The three other teams are Home United of Singapore, Farmer Bank of Thailand and Happy Valley of Hong Kong.

Persija is slated to meet BAFA XI on Feb. 28 and Pahang FC on March 1. The semifinals of the invitation will take place on March 4, while the final is scheduled for March 8. (05)
