People may face water shortages

JAKARTA (JP): Residents in different parts of the city will suffer water shortages as the tap water company, PT PAM Lyonnaise Jaya (Playja), will temporarily stop its clean water production at the Pejompongan water treatment plant, from 7 p.m. on Saturday until Sunday at around 8 a.m.

The company stated that some water shortages may be experienced and areas which may be affected by the stop are: Bendungan Hilir, Sudirman, Jati Pinggir (Tomang), Cideng, Katamso, Abdul Muis, Kebon Sirih, KH Mas Mansyur, Jembatan Tiga, Bandengan, Gedong Panjang, Pelabuhan Pemancingan (Fishing Port), Muara Baru and Kyai Tapa.

The temporary stop of this water treatment plant is to evaluate the condition of its reservoir so that Palyja can plan major works later this year. It will also clean the reservoir as well as the presedimentation basin of the water treatment plant.

Palyja apologizes for the inconvenience and reminds all customers to be prepared and to keep their home water tanks filled before this period and to pay attention not to waste water.

Palyja under Lyonnaise des Eaux is a division of the Suez Lyonnaise des Eaux of France.
