Pelita to hire foreign players

SEMARANG (JP): Pelita soccer club in Surakarta, Central Java, will hire four players from Senegal, Mali and Uzbekistan to face the 2001 Bank Mandiri Soccer League.

"The foreign players are midfielder Djabate Seran of Mali and strikers Libasse Layeser (Senegal) and Uzbeks Pacel Solomin and Rustam Bulatov," Pelita's soccer director Danurwindo said Friday.

"Their recruitment is aimed to improve our ability in scoring goals. That's why we focused on negotiating for frontline players," he added.

According to Danur, Solomin was one of the top scorers in the Uzbek league while Seran had played for Italian Torino club. (har)
