Pekanbaru to host racing c'ships

JAKARTA (JP): The Riau capital of Pekanbaru will host the
national motorcycle race for Sumatra on July 7 and July 8 at a
temporary circuit behind the governor's Office on Jl. Cut Nyak
Dien.

"We chose Pekanbaru considering the enthusiasm shown by both
the local racers and spectators at motorcycle racing events in
Sumatera," organizer Helmy Sungkar said in a fax transmission on
Thursday.

The event will stage several races including four-cycle, two-
cycle, tune-up and scooter events.

Helmy said he would cooperate with Riau chapter of the
Indonesian Automotive Association (IMI) to ensure the event runs
smoothly. (nvn)
