PDI Perjuangan to demolish its posts

JAKARTA: In compliance with the city's regreening program, the Jakarta branch of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI Perjuangan) will demolish any of its posts located on designated green areas, said secretary of Jakarta PDI Perjuangan Maringan Pangaribuan on Tuesday.

He said the decision was made following a recent complaint by the City Park Agency that many of the posts were built on designated green areas.

Maringan said his party had yet to identify the exact number of posts located on green areas, but he estimated that there were about 350 posts across the capital.

"We do not want to be in violation of the law, so we will demolish them," he said as quoted by Antara.

Currently, Maringan said, the posts are used as sites for disseminating information about the party's programs and government policies to constituents.

PDI Perjuangan is chaired by Megawati Soekarnoputri, who is also the country's president.--JP
