PDI-P names its truant legislators

JAKARTA: The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) faction have confirmed that only two of its faction members had often skipped meetings of the House of Representatives.

The two legislators were Arifin Panigoro and Herman Hery, PDI- P faction chairman Tjahjo Kumolo announced on Friday.

The faction, however, protested the inclusion of Taufik Kiemas, Marissa Haque and Mangara Siahaan in the list of 10 truant legislators, which was released last week.

Tjahjo argued that these three lawmakers had informed the PDI- P faction before skipping House meetings.

He said the PDI-P faction sent an official letter to the House's disciplinary committee for the perceived error.

The other five truant legislators were Adi Putra Tahir and Serta Ginting of Golkar, Ahmad Thoyfoer and Ma'mur Noor of the United Development Party (PPP) and Soeripto of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS). -- JP
