PD Sarana Jaya builds apartments
The city-owned construction company, PD Sarana Jaya, has constructed eight apartment buildings to meet the escalating demand on housing facilities for low-income bracket people.
Thamrin Djamain, the president of the company, said Monday the eight buildings had a total of 2,934 units.
The apartments, some of which are rented to on a daily basis, are located in Pondok Kelapa, Pondok Bambu and Cipinang, East Jakarta, in Karang Anyar and Rawa Sari, Central Jakarta, in Penjaringan, North Jakarta, in Cengkareng and Tambora, West Jakarta.
But only three of them -- Tambora, Penjaringan and Karang Anyar -- have apartments which are equipped with private bathrooms, he said.
Thamrin said that, as a matter of fact, the company had built a low-cost apartment building in Rawa Bilal area in Tebet, South Jakarta.
The apartment, built in 1982 with aid from the special Presidential scheme budget, is now in poor condition.
"We have secured approval from the Minister/Secretary of State office to rebuild the dilapidated Rawa Bilal low-cost apartment and are now making preparations for the refurbishment," Thamrin said.
PD Sarana Jaya has bought a piece of land in Pondok Kelapa, East Jakarta, for the former occupants of the apartment. (arf)
