PBVSI to stage All-Star match

JAKARTA (JP): Twenty men's and 20 women's volleyball players
will compete in an All-Star game on Sunday at the Senayan indoor
stadium.

The chief of the organizing committee, Hanny Surkatty, said on
Tuesday the players were chosen by volleyball fans during the
2000 volleyball league's first and second legs and the final
four, which ended on Jan. 14.

The men's and women's teams are divided into eastern and
western divisions, with ten players on each side. Stars from top
clubs such as Bank BNI (Jakarta), Samator (East Java), Yuso
(Yogyakarta) and Petrogres (East Java) dominate the teams.

Bank BNI women's team defended the title it won in the
league's inaugural season in 1999. Samator men's team took over
as champion from Yuso.

Before the All-Star game, the Indonesian Volleyball
Association (PBVSI) will stage a national congress at the Atlet
Century Hotel on Saturday and Sunday. One the agenda is a review
of the association's achievements in 2000 and its plans for 2001.
