PBVSI to stage All-Star match
JAKARTA (JP): Twenty men's and 20 women's volleyball players will compete in an All-Star game on Sunday at the Senayan indoor stadium.
The chief of the organizing committee, Hanny Surkatty, said on Tuesday the players were chosen by volleyball fans during the 2000 volleyball league's first and second legs and the final four, which ended on Jan. 14.
The men's and women's teams are divided into eastern and western divisions, with ten players on each side. Stars from top clubs such as Bank BNI (Jakarta), Samator (East Java), Yuso (Yogyakarta) and Petrogres (East Java) dominate the teams.
Bank BNI women's team defended the title it won in the league's inaugural season in 1999. Samator men's team took over as champion from Yuso.
Before the All-Star game, the Indonesian Volleyball Association (PBVSI) will stage a national congress at the Atlet Century Hotel on Saturday and Sunday. One the agenda is a review of the association's achievements in 2000 and its plans for 2001. (ivy)
