PBVSI calls up players for tour
JAKARTA (JP): The Indonesian Volleyball Association (PBVSI) has summoned eight national beach volleyballers to attend an extended training program starting on Tuesday.
The players will focus on competing in the Southeast Asian beach volley and indoor volley tournament, scheduled from July 19 to July 25 in Bangkok.
PBVSI official Ahmed Solihin said on Monday the eight athletes were Sumoyo, Agus Salim, Anjas Asmara and Irilkhun Shofanna from the men's side and Yuli, Risma, Nini and Henny from the women's side.
Ahmed said the tournament would serve as a alternative event because beach volleyball would not be featured in the 20th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Brunei Darussalam in August.
The two male pairs arrived in Jakarta on Monday evening after competing in a three-day tournament in Thrang and Pattaya in Thailand. Iwan and Anjas finished in third position while Agus and Irilkhun finished fifth overall. (ivy)
