PBB helps people obtain ID cards

MEDAN, North Sumatra: The local chapter of the Crescent Star Party (PBB) has established dozens of community service posts across town to help people obtain identity cards.

A party activist, Syahminan Nasution, said party volunteers have helped hundreds of people for free and given them information related to the general election so far.

"People are enthusiastic to come to our community service posts, even those who are not supporters of our party," Syahminan said on Wednesday.

An ID card applicant only pays Rp 1,000 (US 12 cents) of a compulsory fee charged by the government.

Deputy chief of PBB's provincial chapter here, Fuad Helmy Lubis, said the posts also organized circumcision rituals for Muslim children. (39)
