Pay hike for Maluku employees

AMBON, Maluku (JP): The provincial administration will
increase the standard regional daily minimum wage from Rp 3,100
(US$1.4) to Rp 3,800 as of April next year, an officer said.

"We cannot increase the standard minimum wage now because we
just enforced the current minimum wage in August from the
previous level of Rp 2,700 per day," Sadjid, head of the Maluku
chapter of the local office of manpower, told the Antara news
agency yesterday.

He said about 15 percent of the 80 companies in the Ambon
mayoralty have not implemented the current minimum wage of Rp
3,100 per day. (imn)
