Pawnshop loss reaches Rp 3.7b

BOGOR: The losses resulting from a robbery at the state-owned Tajur pawnshop in Bogor, West Java, on Feb. 24 amount to Rp 3.7 billion (US$397,849) according to the most recent estimate.

The operations manager for pawnshops in the Greater Jakarta area, Markus, said there was a possibility that this figure would climb higher, Tempointeraktif.com reported on Tuesday.

The pawnshop has paid out Rp 700 million so far to customers who had pawned 1,500 of the 2,589 items in the pawnshop that had been lost. -- JP
