Pattimura defeats national team
JAKARTA (JP): The Pattimura Bridge Club outclassed the national Bermuda Bowl team on Saturday by 274.33 international match points to 243 in a simulation final at the Senayan Bridge Center.
The national team -- comprising of Eddy Manoppo and Henky Lasut; Denny Sacul and Franky Karwur; and Santje Panelewen and Robert Tobing -- won the final three sessions out of a total of eight but they were unable to make up the points they needed to snatch the lead from Pattimura.
The national team was down 170-60 by the fifth and the gap proved too large.
Team manager Lutfi Hamid said the national team members were exhausted as they had recently returned home from two competitions in Boston, Massachusetts.
On the contrary, Pattimura -- consisting of Sidi Purnomo and Dadan Warabia; Noldy George and Henry Tumiwa; and Mukhiban Darma Bakti and Leslie Gontha -- performed outstandingly without showing any signs of pressure.
Lutfi said, as quoted by Antara, the poor performance would not influence the team's preparations for the Bermuda Bowl in January in the Bermuda Islands. (yan)
