Pati to have cement plant

JAKARTA (JP): PT Semen Halla Jateng is set to establish a cement plant in the Pati regency of Central Java with an estimated total investment of Rp 1.5 trillion (US$635.6 million).

Soedarsono, the chairman of the provincial office of the Capital Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), said the company, jointly owned by Indonesian and South Korean companies, was now applying for the investment license.

"Hopefully the license will be awarded soon," Antara quoted him as saying in Semarang.

At least 17 companies have received government approval to establish cement factories in Central Java. They include PT Semen Nusantara in Cilacap regency, PT Semen Gombong in Kebumen, PT Semen Grobogan and PT Himkonam Pertiwi in Grobogan, PT Kurnia Kapuas Glue Industries in Rembang, PT Eraska Nova Semen in Boyolali, PT Makmur Jaya Utama in Pati.

The others are PT Java Semen in Grobogan PT Gloria Rama Surya in Rembang, PT Tensindo Semen in Pati, PT Pantja Mekar and PT Agung Buana Redjeki of Astra group in Grobogan, PT Sukolilo in Pati, PT Sumber Supra Semen in Wonogiri, PT Surya Mas Pertiwi in Kebumen and PT Semen Dwima Agung in Rembang.

Soedarsono said that of the 17 investors, only PT semen Nusantara, PT Semen Gombong, PT Semen Grobogan, PT Himkonam Pertiwi and PT Sukolilo have started building their plants. (09)
