Pastika sworn in as new BNN chief

JAKARTA: Insp. Gen. I Made Mangku Pastika, who was sworn in on Wednesday as the new chief of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), said his two main priorities would be arresting drug dealers and providing rehabilitation for users.

Pastika, the former chief of the Bali Police who was lauded for his investigation into the 2002 bombings on the resort island, replaces Comr. Gen. Makbul Padmanegara as head of the BNN. Makbul has moved to National Police Headquarters, where he is the new chief of detectives.

Pastika said he would work to include the public in the battle against drugs. --Antara
