BOGOR, West Java: Hundreds of people were stranded along Jl.
Baranangsiang here as fewer buses were operating due to the
perceived risks on the first day of campaigning.

"I've waited for one hour," said Nuryanto, one stranded
resident. "All passing buses already have lots of passengers
hanging out the door."

More were stranded when bus crews began asking people their
destinations and leaving behind those traveling short distances.

Meanwhile, 43 out of 48 parties contesting the polls carried
out their campaigns relatively peacefully. (24)
