Pasaraya prices through the roof

On March 22, 2000 I bought a new NIKON AF 240 SV QD camera at a branch of Pasaraya for Rp 860,000.

About a month later, after reading in Kompas an advertisement marking the launch of the camera, I went to the authorized dealer mentioned in the ad and was surprised to know that the official price of the NIKON AF 240 SV QD ranged from Rp 350,000 to Rp 465,000. Pasaraya had been selling these cameras at twice the official price fixed by the authorized NIKON dealer. I was very disappointed with Pasaraya but could do nothing as a consumer.

Accordingly, I'd like to suggest those wishing to buy things at Pasaraya not to do so in a hurry; check the prices at other places first before making a purchase, otherwise you'll be disappointed.
