Party time for 'Indosiar' anniversary

JAKARTA (JP): PT Indosiar Visual Mandiri, better known as private television station Indosiar, is celebrating its 6th anniversary with a host of specials on Thursday.

Dozens of celebrities including Krisdayanti, Desy Ratnasari, Dewi Hughes, Yuni Shara and Titi DJ will take part in the station's anniversary celebration.

Their performances in the variety show Semarak 6 tahun Indosiar will be broadcast live at 8 p.m. from the station's studios on Jl. Damai 11 in Daan Mogot, West Jakarta.

The show, on the theme of national culture, features songs, dances, quizzes, a poetry reading hosted by actress Desy Ratnasari, Sarah Azhari, presenter Indy Barens, Farhan, actor Dede Yusuf and comedian Eko Patrio.

Indosiar will also broadcast a show by Purwatjaraka (4 p.m.), the Project P comedy show (5:30 p.m.), an interactive talk show hosted by comedian Denny Chandra (6 p.m.), a medley of Melly Goeslaw's hit songs performed by singers Krisdayanti and Rossa (6:30 p.m.), and Festival Illusion featuring magicians Dwi Montero, Sekar Langit and Alford (10 p.m.) .

The station will be back again on Friday with Chossy Pratama's music concert featuring performances by popular singers Yuni Shara, Novia Kolopaking, Vina Panduwinata and many more at 9 p.m.

It is also celebrating the occasion with special movies at 9 p.m. every Saturday over the following month. The Rock starring Nicholas Cage and Sean Connery will be aired on Jan. 13. The following weeks include Sylvester Stallone in The Assassins and Demolition Man.

Indosiar was the runner-up for the Broadcaster of the Year in the Asian Television Awards 2000 competition in Singapore on Dec. 7, 2000. The station's programs including Family 100, variety shows Gebyar BCA and Pesta, professional boxing,Tembang Kenangan, sinetron Misteri Gunung Merapi and Tersanjung are included in AC Nielsen's top ratings for TV programs.

The station will be providing 6,000 free celebratory glasses to viewers during the anniversary celebration. The station's chief director, Handoko, said at a recent press conference the company was preparing to go public. (Sri Ramadani)
