YOGYAKARTA: Yogyakarta's Sheraton Mustika Resort and Spa is about to embark on a new party program.

Starting Sept. 23, the hotel will offer special menus every Tuesday evening under a Kampung Nelayan (fishing village) theme. Two days later, on Sept. 25, a trip down memory lane will be created in another promotional event,Pesona Djokdja Tempo Doeloe (Enchanted Historical Djokdja) every Thursday evening.

The menus actually originate from a fishing village nearby, but dishes are uniquely updated or embellished. The night will include a live cooking show whereby guests can watch the chef prepare their dishes.

During the Pesona Djokdja Tempo Doeloe promotion, guests are invited to taste famous Yogyakartan dishes, such as satay, gudeg (young jackfruit cooked in coconut milk with spices), pecel (vegetable salad with spicy peanut sauce), cendol (Indonesian cold dessert) and various other traditional snacks locally known as jajan pasar. The cost is Rp 88,800 ++ per person.

"Traditional performances Cokekan will be staged every Thursday evening to produce a Yogyakartan atmosphere," Bambang said, adding that the Pesona Djokdja evening was to be held at the hotel's Ulam Mirasa Restaurant while Kampung Nelayan, at the Sasono Hondrowino Restaurant. -- JP
