Part-time job program
A total of 12,893 high school students yesterday started a program to work as part-time employees during the holiday -- an activity coordinated by the Jakarta chapter of the Education and Culture Ministry.
The students are assigned to 20 government offices and 14 private companies from Oct. 24 to 29. There are four programs offered: entrepreneurship, public presentation, social activities and those hired as employees.
According to Kusnan Ismukanto, head of the office, most of the students are interested in the entrepreneurship program because they feel their knowledge can be used in real jobs.
Kusnan also said that the number of companies participating in this year's program is 34.5 percent lower than last year because of the abbreviated holiday. (yns)
