Parking fee hike effective from January
JAKARTA (JP): The city administration is to set a new official parking fee at between Rp 1,000 and Rp 500 for cars and Rp 500 for motorcycles at spaces managed by the city parking management body BP Parkir starting from next year, an official announced on Monday.
Deputy Governor for Development Affairs Budihardjo Sukmadi said that the hike would be followed by a significant improvement in BP Parkir to avoid mismanagement and financial losses.
According to Budihardjo, the tariff for cars would be set at Rp 1,000 per hour at BP-run parking spaces listed under the category of type A streets (crowded areas) and Rp 500 per hour at type B streets (less crowded areas).
Motorcycles would be charged at Rp 500 each per parking without a time limit.
He said that prior to the realization of the new tariff and an effort to help promote it, the city administration would soon install signs of the street type categories on the city's 516 streets.
Currently, the tariff at BP-managed parking lots is set at between Rp 300 and Rp 500 per hour for cars and Rp 300 for motorcycles. (jun)
