Paramedics stand by early

JAKARTA (JP): Feeling a bit fatigued after sitting in one of those meeting rooms for hours?

The paramedic team at the General Session of the People's Consultative Assembly may just have the cure for Assembly members.

On the opening day of the 11-day event, the City Health Agency provided nine ambulances on site. Each ambulance had three paramedics.

And the team is an early riser.

"At 4:30 a.m., we were herded out of the dormitory to begin preparations here," said on-duty paramedic Toto yesterday.

Some of the paramedics conducted checks around the building, while some stood by in the ambulances.

He said most health complaints of the people's representatives were hypertension, flu and stomachache. (das)
