Paper cuts number of pages

JAYAPURA, Irian Jaya: The only newspaper in Irian Jaya, Tifa
Irian, has reduced the number of its pages from 16 to 12, the
paper's chief editor Bill Rettob said yesterday.

Bill said that he was compelled to take the measure due to the
hike in the price of newsprint. He added, however, that despite
the reduction of pages, the weekly newspaper will maintain its
same format.

The paper, with a total circulation of 7,500 and priced at Rp
1000 (50 US cents) each, has its newsprint supplied directly by
PT Leces in Probolinggo, East Java. (03)
