Panwaslu handles 31 poll violations

PALU, Central Sulawesi: The Central Sulawesi branch of the Elections Supervisory Committee (Panwaslu) has handled 31 poll violations from January to March.

Aminuddin Kasim, chairman of Central Sulawesi's Panwaslu, said the 31 cases consisted of six crimes, five administrative violations, 14 disputes and six other cases that could not be followed up on because of a lack of evidence.

Central Sulawesi's Panwaslu handled 14 cases, the Palu mayoralty's Panwaslu six cases, Donggala regency six cases and the Banggai, Morowali and Buol regencies one case each.

The six criminal cases were investigated by the police. "Most of these involved forged diplomas," he said.

Administrative violations generally consisted of the failure of legislative candidates to complete all the administrative requirements.

The disputes included internal disputes between legislative candidates of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI- P). -- JP
