Pancasila Youth want better image
SERANG, West Java: Pemuda Pancasila activists called on intellectuals to join forces and help dispel its image of an organization of thugs, Antara reported yesterday.
West Java chapter chairman Lulu Kaking said after the inauguration of the Serang branch leader here Saturday the organization was "fed up" with people calling the group an "organization of hoodlums".
Kaking's son, Glen Pawitan Kakung, was installed as Serang's branch chairman. Glen will soon complete his studies at Padjadjaran University's School of International Relations.
Kaking said the organization may find it difficult to dispel the group's image as one with "muscles" but it should be complemented with brains as well.
Another executive, Tubagus Dasep, earlier admitted that his organization had been the target of ridicule.
"We admit that PP is a place where various kind of people gather, from those who pray, to 'bastards'," he said. "We need to guide the bastards so that they become devout people." (swe)
