Panasia to hold exhibition games

JAKARTA (JP): Indonesian champion Panasia Indosyntec will organize a basketball exhibition event at the Pajajaran Sports Hall in Bandung today to proceed its departure to the 9th Asian Interclub Championship in Kuala Lumpur.

The club's president, Khoe Hoa Ie, said Thursday that today's event would include a game pitting Panasia junior and Bandung city teams, slam-dunk and three-pointer contests and cheerleader performances. Admittance to the event, to be staged from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., is free.

A charity program will cap the exhibition, with Panasia donating basic food commodities to the basketball community in West Java.

Panasia is drawn in a difficult group with Malaysian champion Petronas, China's Beijing Hanwei and representatives of South Korea and Uzbekistan for the April 25-May 2 championship. The other group has Regal of Hong Kong, Toshiba of Japan, Al Riadi of Lebanon and teams from the Philippines and Thailand.

With American key starters Simeon Maley and Kass Weaver in top form, the Indonesian club has set a realistic target of finishing fourth. (amd)
