Palyja operates Kedoya pipeline

JAKARTA (JP): Joint venture tap water firm PT PAM Lyonaise Jaya (Palyja) commenced operation of a newly constructed pipeline on Tuesday, spanning two kilometers between Kedoya and Tubagus Angke, both in West Jakarta.

The underground pipeline, which is 900 millimeters in diameter, follows Jl. Perjuangan. It is has the capacity to serve 80,000 current customers and an estimated 20,000 new customers in the northern part of Jakarta.

"The Jl. Perjuangan pipeline will improve the water supply system throughout the districts of Duri Kelapa to Kedoya Utara with a capacity of 52,000 cubic meters a day," Palyja's president, Pierre Alla, said in a statement.

The project cost the company Rp 7.25 billion (US$720,000).

The pipeline network on Jl. Perjuangan will later be connected to the pipeline on Jl. Tubagus Angke, the construction of which is still under way. (jun)
