Pakistanis admit to raping pregnant woman
JAKARTA (JP): Two Pakistani nationals who were arrested on Wednesday for allegedly raping a five-month pregnant woman in Tangerang have admitted their wrongdoing, secretary to the Jakarta Police detectives unit said on Thursday.
"The victim made the report on Tuesday ... we immediately started searching for the suspects, and got them," Lt. Col. Tjiptono told reporters.
"We're still questioning the suspects. Both have admitted to their crime, but are arguing with each other as to who committed the rape first."
Tjiptono added that underwear and bedsheets had been confiscated and immediately sent to the National Police central forensics laboratory (Puslabfor) to check for sperm samples.
Earlier, Tjiptono told reporters that the lady's name was SR, and that her husband was a business colleague of the two alleged rapists.
The 27-year-old pregnant victim said she was allegedly raped by her husband's business colleagues, identified as Salim Bat and Sabeer Ahmad, in Gg Kelapa in Ciputat, Tangerang, at about 11:30 p.m. on March 21, according to the police report.
SR made out rape report No. 770/K/III/2000/SATGA OPS "B" on Tuesday afternoon, a police source said.
Quoting from the report, the source said the victim lived on Jl. Kemiri of neighborhood community 03 in the Pondok Cabe subdistrict of Pamulang, Tangerang.
"She identified the rapists as friends of her husband. Salim and Sabeer are in the business of figurines and garments," the source said.
In the report, the lady said that at about 5 p.m. on March 21, the alleged rapists arrived at her home and promised to give her work.
She was then brought in a public van by the men to Gg Kelapa in Ciputat where she was told to wait for a friend of the alleged rapists, who supposedly would give her the work. It was not elaborated on in the report what kind of work the men promised her.
"At about 11:30 p.m., the suspects forced her to take off her underwear, and they took turns raping her ... repeatedly." (ylt)
