Pakistan seeks earthquake aid
JAKARTA: Pakistan's embassy in Jakarta has launched an appeal to all people living in Indonesia for donations to help earthquake victims in that country.
Last week's deadly earthquake killed around 40,000 people and left more than two million homeless.
"We appeal to all Pakistanis, Indonesians and foreigners living in Indonesia to donate funds to overcome the impact of the quake," Pakistani Ambassador to Indonesia Syed Mustafa Anwer Husain told The Jakarta Post on Friday.
He said that the embassy had opened two banks accounts -- both in rupiah and the U.S. dollar -- at the Bank Century's Sentral Senayan branch in Jakarta.
The donations can be sent to rupiah account No: 1022 0000 316733 001 or the U.S. dollar account No. 1022 0000 316741 002. The bank's swift code is CICTIDJA.
The Indonesian government sent on Wednesday 12 tons of food, medicine and blankets to help the survivors of the quake. --JP
