Padang moves to save energy

PADANG, West Sumatra: Following the nationwide campaign to conserve energy, West Sumatra Governor Gamawan Fauzi has called on government offices and businesses to save power.

He said his offices and offices under the provincial administration would be the first to implement energy-saving measures.

"We will start by turning off lights, air conditioners and electrical appliances, particularly during peak hours from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.," he said at the launch on Saturday of the Saving Energy and Electricity Movement in Padang.

He also called on the public to conserve energy and for researchers to find a new renewable energy source. -- JP
