Padang media snubs governor

PADANG, West Sumatra: Journalists in Padang continued to boycott activities of West Sumatra Governor Dunidja on Tuesday for the fourth consecutive day.

The strike is fully supported by all media executives in the city as well as from state-run television station TVRI, state- owned radio network RRI and Antara news agency.

Journalists assigned to the gubernatorial office complain that officials failed to provide adequate transportation for their coverage of the governor's visit to Solok regency on Friday.

They said they were made to wait and finally provided with a car with faulty brakes.

Dunidja expressed his regrets over the incident and hoped the disagreement could be settled peacefully. (28/edt)
